Are you confident in your body?
Let me ask that again:
Do you love your body in a bikini? Or even in a tank top?
Know without a doubt you look sexy when your stripped down to your knickers? (yep… went there!)
And the kicker…
Think your body confidence isn’t affecting your success in your career?
Hate to break it to you, but the reason you might not be making more money, honey, is ’cause you don’t EMBODY your confidence.
Let’s take a closer look at the nitty gritty… the big three reasons body confidence contributes to success:
You know what they say… people don’t buy from brands, people buy from people.
Your ideal clients want to see YOU. They want to get to know YOU.
But if you’re ashamed or embarrassed of showing up, I promise those clients are off watching someone who’s not.
Whether the platform you play on is FB, Insta, Youtube, or Twitter, the more your face– wrinkles, no makeup, sweaty post-workout beet-red face– shows up in their feed, the more likely they’re gonna buy from you.
Ready to raise your prices or ask for that raise?
Want to close more clients on sales call, but they always seem to slip away when you eek out the price?
Close your eyes for a sec.
Do you truly feel confident IN your body? Grounded? Worthy?
Confidence starts in your body. When you LOVE the birthday suit your doing life in, it spills over into your financial success because you convey confidence in every career interaction.
When you embody confidence, you show potential employers, bosses, or clients that you are sure you are sure of your own power + experience. This isn’t your first rodeo…
You want them to feed off your ease, not your insecurities.
Body confidence causes people to flock to you, willing to pay whatever price you come at.
The conversation shifts from potential price shopping to “where do I sign?”
You attend a conference in six months and you wake up the first morning, slipping on that perfect tailored shift dress and your favorite J.Crew necklace. You walk into the room, head held high, rocking the body you’ve got and greet the other women there, oozing kindness and grace.
Everyone senses it… oh, you’re the one to get to know and suddenly, there’s a gaggle of potential new go-getter girl BFFs all gathered around YOU.
Guess what? Embodying confidence exudes an infectious charisma. Everyone wants to be “that girl’s” friend.
Like iron fillings flit to stick to a magnet.
Or moths swarm a porch light.
Or teen boys descend on a just-ordered pizza.
Or … you get the picture, doll!
Your career grows through body confidence because relationships start through attraction.
Your network and net worth grow when you stand tall, feel comfortable at the weight your at and how your body looks, and unapologetically own who you are.
By now, you’re probably all: ” I get it… I GET IT. You need body confidence to be successful in business…”
But how in this wide world do you go about getting more of it?
That’s the million dollar question, my dear.
Building body confidence isn’t an overnight endeavor and sometimes takes some outside help, especially if you’ve struggled with it for years, but here are 4 tips I urge all the women I work with to start bettering their body confidence:
Whether you gained five pounds stress eating chocolate at your desk or you just haven’t taken proper care of yourself the past few years, you can’t move forward unless you let go of the weight of guilt holding you back. (The psychology behind this is a little more complex & something all my 1:1 clients fully wipe the slate clean on, but letting go is a start!)
No matter how much I try, I’m Irish and that means I’ve got knobby knees and elbows.
And while I used to fritter away years trying to starve those tiny bits of “extra” off me, I’ve come to see them as traits and heritage of my family. I’ve got “Grandma’s arms” and “Aunt Bridie’s knees.” They remind me to be proud of the people I come from.
How can you find pride in how your body connects you to the ones you’ve come from?
The beauty of recognizing something you don’t like is that there are steps you can take starting today to change it.
Yes, I don’t want you dieting. There’s harm to be had falling into THAT trap.
But you don’t know the best potential of what your body is meant to look and feel like until you’re taking radical care of it: sleep, nourishing foods, rest, and all the rest!
Bodies shift pretty quick when you start taking good care of them!
As one of doctors in ED treatment used to tell me “If you don’t compare, you won’t despair.”
Let’s be real: comparison is human… we’re all nosy.
But comparison needs a critical eye…
You might want to look like that girl you follow on social media, but you don’t the other half of the story. Maybe she’s “naturally thin,” but you never know how many hours she sacrifices to working out, whether she’s got a team of personal trainers and chefs helping her, or whether she’s crumbling behind closed doors with body dysmorphia, mental health breakdowns, or a full blown eating disorder.

So while you may not love your body today, I urge you to try to start building more body confidence, so you:
And when I attend my next conference, I’m sure I’ll see you.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to come over and introduce yourself.
I’ll be able to spot you… the minute your confident, healthy self waltzes into the room.
